19.04.2017 – WAKE-UP IN HORLEY – GOING BED IN LIMA

.
IN THE MORNING WE PACKED UP THE STUFF AND WENT BACK TO THE CENTRE OF THE TOWN – THIS TIME FOR BREAKFAST. THE CHOICE WAS NOT OBVIOUS, BECAUSE FOR SEVERAL HUNDRED METERS WE ENCOUNTERED A FEW FOOD SERVING SPOTS. BEGINNING FROM TYPICAL BREAKFAST BARS, THROUGH A VARIETY OF BAKERIES AND ENDING AT LIDL. HAVING ANALYSED ALL THE PROS AND CONS WE DECIDED TO EAT SUSHI WASHED DOWN WITH THE BEER AND SCOTTISH  EGG (ALL THIS FOR 5.95 £). I NEVER HAD SUCH A MEAL – IT WAS A MUST TRY …

GATWICK IS A SOLID, WELL-RUN AIRPORT. BRITS CAN BE PROUD.

THE CHECK-IN, OR RATHER THE CROSSING THROUGH SECURITY CHECK, WENT FAST, AT LEAST NOT WITHOUT DIGGING AROUND IN THINGS. GUESS WHAT WAS THE PROBLEM ? IF YOU SELECTED COSMETIC – BINGO !!!

THEN WE CAME TO THE DUTY FREE. WE SPENT A LOT OF TIME HERE CONSIDERING VARIOUS OPTIONS OF DISINFECTANTS. FINALLY WE DECIDED ON A 2 LITTERS OF SCOTCH FROM A HIGHER SHELF, FOR A DISCOUNTED PRICE. WOMBACIK SHYLY PROTESTED, CLAIMING THAT IT WILL BE ENOUGH FOR THE ENTIRE TRIP. BUT PRICE HAS MADE ITS …

WE LANDED AT LIMA ON TIME.

BY THE WAY: I HAVE NOT USED BRITISH AIRWAYS FOR A LONG TIME, AND I THINK I SHOULD HAVE ENJOYED IT. THE PLANE WAS AT LEAST 15% EMPTY (MAYBE DUE TO THE STANDARDS?), AND THE FLIGHT WAS RELATIVELY LONG. FIRST, IT TURNED OUT THAT MANY SEATS LACKED HEADPHONES, AND ON THE END STAFF RAN OUT OF WINE AND TO HOT DISHES WERE SERVED TEA AND PLANE WATER. A SECRET AND NON PUSHY SERVICE WAS THE GREATEST PLUS OF THE FLIGHT. EVEN TRYING TO SELL SOMETHING IN THE DECK-BASED DUTY-FREE SHOP, THEY BEHAVED REMARKABLY DISCREETLY.

THE TAXI BEING SUPPOSED TO WAIT FOR US, HAD SMALL, A DOZEN MINUTES DELAY.

THE PARIS HOTEL IS 45 MINUTES, LESS THEN 10 km AWAY FROM AIRPORT.
90 MINUTES FROM ARRIVAL TIME WE WALKED DOWN TOWN LIMA LOOKING FOR CARBONATED WATER … THE NEARBY SUPERMARKET WAS CLOSED AT 22:00 AND IT TOOK A WHILE TO FIND THE DRINK WE NEEDED …
