21.04.2017 – CRAZY DAY IN LIMA

.

FINALLY WELL-RESTED, WE WERE ABLE TO THINK ABOUT SEEING IN THIS CITY TWO, BEING THE MOST INTERESTED FOR US SOURCES OF THE CULTURE.
THE MOST IMPORTANT TO SEE ARE THE LARCO MUSEUM AND THE NATIONAL MUSEUM.

I DROPPED PINS MARKING THESE TWO PLACES ON A GOOGLE MAPS IN MY MOBILE, AND WE LEFT THE HOTEL.

WE DECIDED TO START WITH LARCO. WHEN WE PASSED MAYBE A KILOMETRE, THE CELLULAR SHOWED THAT WALKING ROUTES ARE UNAVAILABLE OFF-LINE, AND I SHOULD DEAL WITH IT ON MY OWN. THAT’S NOT ALL. ADMITTEDLY I WAS ABLE TO PREVIEW THE LIMA MAP, BUT COULD NOT DETERMINE THE DISTANCE.

WE WENT ASKING SOMETIMES FOR DIRECTIONS. ONCE WE WERE OFFERED A TAXI, THEN SOMEONE SUGGESTED A BUS, TO WHICH IT WAS NECESSARY TO RETURN…

SOMEHOW WE LUMBERED TO THE STREET WHERE OUR GOAL WAS TO BE. WE MOVED JAUNTILY FURTHER AHEAD. WE WERE WALKING, WALKING, WALKING UNTIL FINALLY WE REACHED A GOAL. THIS CITY TREK TOOK US OVER 2 HOURS.

PRIVATE LARCO GALLERY IS AN EXTREMELY RICH COLLECTION OF MAINLY CLAY ARTEFACTS, FROM AREAS OF PRE-COLUMBIAN CULTURES. SO MANY OF THEM, THAT YOU CAN GET DIZZY. THERE ARE AS WELL OTHERS, WORTH WATCHING COLLECTIONS. ADMISSION 30 S. SIGHTSEEING TIME 120 – 150 min. (DEPENDS ON WHETHER YOU WANT TO WATCH THE MOVIE). WE WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND.

DID THIS UPSET OUR STOMACHS ?

.

RE-ENERGISED BY PISCO DOWNED IN A BEAUTIFUL, NEAR BY GALLERY RESTAURANT, WE SET OFF FOR THE PREVIOUSLY SEEN, STREET-SIDE STAND SELLING THE GREAT LOOKING CEVICHE. WE GOT TO THIS PLACE DRAGGED OUT, AND WAITING IN LINE WE WATCHED FASCINATED AS THE SALESMAN EXCELLED AND QUICKLY COPED WITH PREPARING THE NEXT BATCH OF HIS ONLY PRODUCT – OCTOPUS CEVICHE. WE ATE WITH A TASTE THE PORTION COSTING 6 S. I CONGRATULATED JOHNNY ON SUCH A WONDERFUL DISH WORTH OF CULINARY NOBEL PRIZE, AND WE JUMPED INTO THE PUBLIC TRANSPORT HAVING ITS STOP BESIDE.

LIMA URBAN TRANSPORT PROBABLY OPERATES ON THE PRINCIPLE OF STOPS DESIGNATED BY BUS ROUTES. ON SOME – THOSE WITH HIGHER BANDWIDTH, ARE SPECIAL INFORMANTS-BARKERS. THEY WILL NOT ONLY TELL YOU WHICH BUS TO GO TO, THEY WILL ALSO TELL THE DRIVER WHERE YOU WANT TO GET OFF. YOU PAY FOR THE RIDE IN VEHICLE TO THE CONDUCTOR. IN SPITE OF THE CROWDS HI WILL ALWAYS FIND THOSE, WHO HAVE NOT YET PURCHASED THE TICKET.
TRAVELLING 3/4 OF THE ROAD COVERED PREVIOUSLY ON LEGS COSTS 1 S / pp. !!! IGNORANCE HURTS, …

IN THE EVENING – SINCE IT IS OUR LAST NIGHT IN THIS SUPPOSEDLY BEST-DINING PERUVIAN CITY – WE ORDERED DINNER IN THE SECOND CEVICHE-RESTAURANT SPOTTED ON, AT THE FIRST NIGHT IN LIMA. UNFORTUNATELY, IT WAS CLOSED, JUST LIKE EL PUERTO NORTEÑO. AND WE WANTED TO EAT SOMETHING. 50 m AWAY WE ENTERED TO SERVING SIMILAR DISHES THE FULL-FLEDGED EATING PLACE – DON JACINTO RESTAURANT AND WE PLACED AN ORDER. UNFORTUNATELY BROUGHT DISHES ALTHOUGH MUCH CHEAPER, DID NOT IMPRESS US … WE DO NOT RECOMMEND ??

TODAY WE DID 17 km ON FOOT…
